In the middle of the picturesque Kokořín region, surrounded by rocks and deep forests, lies a true gastronomic gem in the small village of Dobřeň – the authentic Serbian restaurant Drákulova krčma, which has been lovingly and energetically run by a married couple for more than ten years. The cuisine focuses mainly on meat, game, offal, and traditional Serbian recipes. The specialty of the house is fallow deer meat, which is used to prepare steaks, kebabs, grilled liver, and homemade sausages. We tried the delicious picanha steak and a delicate tomato soup. The menu also includes excellent homemade pastries, such as gibanica, a traditional Balkan cake made from cheese, eggs, and milk, or somun, a Bosnian roll made according to an old recipe. Add to that the iconic pljeskavica with kajmak, homemade ajvar, or a salad of grilled peppers, which will also delight vegetarians. Some specific ingredients are imported directly from the Balkans, while others are sourced from local farmers. Our only regret is the limited selection of wines by the glass. We would appreciate Serbian wine or wine from the Mělník region.
