If you walk through the bustling náměstí Republiky and pass through the passageway of Burzovní palác, you will find yourself in a quiet place where you can enter the Pot au Feu restaurant through an inconspicuous entrance. The interior offers a very intimate atmosphere and is divided into two parts. Sit down on leather-covered chairs and enjoy the restaurant’s distinctive style, an imaginative combination of wood, stone, original paintings, and other design elements. Everything looks so harmonious that you will look forward to the culinary experience that is about to come. Owner and Chef Jan Kracík continues the family tradition. His philosophy is based on preparing French cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients. Upon entering, you will be greeted by professional and friendly staff who will seat you and offer you a glass of water and an aperitif. Along with the regular menu, they will also present the daily specials. As a welcome, they serve various types of bread and an interesting appetizer. This time, the Chef prepared marinated scallops as an amuse bouche. Among the cold appetizers, the octopus marinated with herbs and vinaigrette was particularly appealing. The taste of the fresh citrus marinade with sliced tentacles worked wonderfully. The onion soup combined aromatic raclette cheese with the balanced taste of thick onion soup, which also contained small crunchy croutons, which worked perfectly. We could not forget the excellent bouillabaisse here. This time, the deep plate contained pieces of zander, tuna, octopus, and shrimp. The well-prepared pieces of meat and seafood were crowned by the strong and full flavor of the soup. You can also enjoy small slices of toasted French baguette with it. What would a visit to a restaurant serving French classics be without crêpes Suzette? The delicate pancake with a rich Grand Marnier sauce is complemented by several orange segments and a few fresh raspberries. The restaurant could be elevated even further by paying more attention to its female guests and adding a touch of innovation.
